I had another round of mini sessions after Thanksgiving—happy to fit in more clients for their holiday pictures!  This beautiful family, great friends of ours, were fun and super easy to photograph.  After photographing my silly nephews and own kids just a few days prior, I could hardly believe these boys just went where I told them to go, relaxed, and smiled naturally.  They were so easy, this was a true mini session.

2012 walk for children with apraxia of speech

Early morning on October 6th, I photographed as a volunteer Charlotte’s 2012 Walk for Children with Apraxia of Speech to benefit CASANA (Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America).  My youngest nephew has struggled with mild apraxia over the last few years and has come a long way after hours of speech therapy each week.  Before attending this event, however, I admittedly never understood how severe apraxia could be.  It was so touching to see all of the families and friends come together to support the young children in their lives dealing with this neurological disorder.  The Charlotte walk, in its inaugural year, raised over $31,000 and was a huge success.

One of my favorite families, good friends of ours—and I have been lucky enough to do their holiday photos for the past several years.  These girls are so expressive and easy to photograph.  Some of my favorite images each year are from this family’s session.

I photographed this beautiful family of five last fall as well and what a difference a year has made, especially for the two little twins.  For starters, I think we actually were on the move more during our session when they were crawling!  I just remember feeling like I’d gotten a workout after that session—and my knees were pretty muddy.  :) This year, with just a little direction, we were able to capture the smiles and hugs that this sweet young family shared on a beautiful fall Saturday.

Just a few images from a mini session recently.  This brother-sister duo were laughing together and just having a great time for our entire session.  I love those closed-eye, real smiles—they’re often so hard to get in front of a camera at this age.

Every woman should have their very own portrait session.  Every mom, every nine-to-fiver, every wife.  Get all gussied up, try a few new outfits, and then let a photographer help you see how gorgeous you are.  My dear friend, the very talented Brooke Brown, and I took Judith out to a cool little grungy part of town for a portrait session of her very own.  I held a reflector and brainstormed posing ideas most of the time, but I did capture a few shots of the very lovely Judith.  See Brooke’s post here.
