happy holidays!

Here’s just a look at our holiday card this year (images by Brooke Brown Photography, card template by Sassy Ink Studio).  Happy holidays to you and yours!

We had our photos done in NODA this year and just happened upon all of locations by just wandering around—I swear I didn’t plan our outfits around those cool yellow steps!  To see more of Brooke’s amazing images from our family session, check out her blog post here.  I also snapped just a few pictures of my own kids on the cool steps, too.

sneak peek | charlotte newborn photographer

I captured these images on the Wednesday before Christmas.  I sent these images to the mom on the Thursday afternoon before Christmas.  And, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but these images on a Christmas card in my mailbox the Saturday before Christmas.  Now that is an organized mom.  :)

More to come after the holidays…

my sister’s family | charlotte family photographer

This is just how it is for family of a photographer—you might get your photos done by someone you know and love, but you’ll probably be last in line to get yours edited.  And so it goes with my own personal photos—and my very neglected personal blog—and, to a lesser extent, my sister’s family session that we did while they were visiting over the Thanksgiving weekend.  Her family’s images were admittedly in line behind a weekend full of mini sessions and a few events that I needed to edit.  I think she was starting to panic by the end of the first full week of December that she wouldn’t get her Christmas cards done in time.

I actually hadn’t taken any family pictures for my sister in nearly 3 years—unfortunately, there hadn’t been enough downtime in our visits together to do so.  I was so excited that we had set aside time during their visit in November to capture some images of their handsome family—I say handsome because she has three boys—and even a few of all of the cousins together.  Fortunately the weather cooperated and we were able to make a fun time of it.  My nephews were good sports during our photo shoot with promises of plenty of time to play on the suspension bridge, run around, and even check out the horses.  I’m so glad we took this time—looking at these faces over and over again, now that my sister’s family is back home in Atlanta, makes me just so happy.

the t family - mini session | charlotte family photographer

Oh so many years ago, when I was pregnant with our first child, we went to Chris and Steph’s wedding.  I’m pretty sure, about a year after we’d had our second child—our son Jack—Chris called my husband just to check that we’re cool with them naming their first child Jack, too.  We still smile about that, their courtesy call.  But now, their Jack is in kindergarten and they’ve got another sweet little boy, Colt.  For our mini session, Jack came ready with his best smile and cutie Colt—just love those cheeks!—was more or less in charge of our shoot, quietly directing where we should go, the best poses for his family, and, well, when it time to break for a snack.  My how time flies…

the b family - mini session | charlotte family photographer

Tucker’s family joined me for a mini session this fall!  It was wonderful to see how much he had grown in just a few months, both in size and personality.  The smiles, and occasional looks of uncertainty about big sis, were there on this lovely Sunday evening in late fall.  And speaking of big sis, she’s got loads of personality and spunk herself.  Love her expressiveness!  I think she nearly stole the show this time.
